I've seen some disgraceful things in my time, but I've never felt quite so sickened as when I learned of the televised Oval Office meeting between Volodymyr Zelensky and Donald Trump and JD Vance.
I could never have imagined that an American President and Vice President could try to lie and bully the besieged President of an invaded ally. I could never have imagined such a disgraceful attempt at blackmail, at an attempt to make an ally cower and grovel, and agree to a deal that would not only reward the richer and stronger nation and place the ongoing security of the weaker nation at risk, but actually reward the nation responsible for the three years of horrendous war that has ensued since it invaded.
America, at the hand of these craven cowards, has become a disgraceful shadow of its former self. Once it had some legitimate claims of being a world leader in all sorts of ways. Now, it's become little more than a grovelling attack dog and sycophantic mouthpiece for a murderous, delusional dictator.
Two against one in the most public of forums. Telling the President of the invaded nation that HE is the one risking world war three. Blaming him for military errors when his invader has had to empty his prisons and purchase North Korean soldiers to use like cattle. I knew Trump was a vile coward, and that JD Vance had the morals of a mercenary hyena, but they've found a new low. These two men are the scum of the earth.
The Western World must turn on America with increasing fury. It must cease all trade with America, expel all diplomats, and remove it from NATO, replacing them with Ukraine. Close all US military bases within its borders. Block Amazon, X and Meta at their digital borders. America needs to be left abandoned in the corner of the world until the American people and their elected leaders find the spine to turn on those who've rendered it an utter, utter disgrace to our collective humanity. And it must back Ukraine for all its worth. No measure spared. It's got to be all in.
And if the legacy media cannot find the moral fortitude to call this out for what it is, it's days of relevance are over.
Rarely have I felt so sickened, so angry, and so utterly, utterly committed to stand with Volodymyr Zelensky and the people of Ukraine. This simply cannot be allowed to become the way of the word.
Social media might be small place to start, but it counts because it is a place to share sentiment, to affirm values, to connect. Ask yourself this: what would you have done during the rise of Hitler and Mussolini, or any other global despot? The answer is simple: you're doing right now.
Think about what doing nothing or saying nothing means. There is no such things as not taking sides.
